Junior Beta Club members awarded
Bishopville--The Pee Dee Math Science & Technology Academy’s (PDMSTA) Junior Beta Club delegates attended the South Carolina Junior, 25th Annual Beta Club Convention in Myrtle Beach, held January 10-12. The nine student delegates attended to exchange ideas, build leadership skills, expand club confidence and compete in the Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies Division.
From the competition ascended 4th grade scholar, Faith Ham, a native of Hartsville. Faith competed in the Social Studies Division and placed third best in the state of South Carolina. The social studies competition, a forty-five minute, multiple choice test is designed to offer students opportunities to assess their academic skills and reinforce educational standards.
“I am so proud of our PDMSTA scholars for their showing at this year’s convention. I am particularly happy for Faith Ham as she used her skillset, met the challenge and placed in her first competition. The Beta Club is a nationally recognized organization that will afford our students scholarships and several other opportunities. I look forward to our local club growing, achieving more awards and developing as leaders,” said E. Keith Bailey, Executive Director, PDMSTA.
The mission of the National Beta Club Convention Program is to allow students opportunities to showcase their academic achievement, artistic creativity, critical thinking skills, collaborative team work, and increase student leadership.
